Draper completely dismantled Ilkel yesterday and continued his dominant run on indoor hard courts over the last few weeks. A quick match yesterday makes him a favorite today to continue his streak and reach the finals of the tournament.
Today, I'll turn my attention to the Helsinki Challenger indoor hard court event event QF. I favor the Frenchman Corentin Moutet to triumph over the Spaniard Jaume Munar. Moutet is coming off two straight set wins over Cressy and Bellier, who had been on a great win streak and was coming off a title last week. In this win, Moutet didn't face a single break point, while converting 2 of his 9 chances. Moutet has had a tough end to the season from the US Open, losing 7 of 11 matches, but his 2 wins in a row will give him a great deal of confidence heading into this match. Munar is ranked in the top 100, unlike Moutet at the moment, but his points are pretty much only from clay tournaments and he can be considered one of the premier "clay court specialists" in the top 100. Munar went from the end of March to October playing just 1 hard court match, a first round defeat in the US Open qualifiers. He has been playing on hard courts to end this season, with 3 wins and 3 losses. However, his wins are vs the ranks 480, 781, and 258. These wins have not been totally comfortable either, his set scores this week include a tiebreak and a 7-5. Moutet at his best is a top 50 level player and he should be confident heading into this match against an opponent who is clearly not at a great level on the surface.
