[Handball- Denmark 'Super Cup'] 23.8/ 20:30 GOG- Aalborg
Aalborg has all the hype this season. Return of the lost son to Danish handball, Mikkel Hansen, is all over the media. While yeah, he's gonna wreck the league, we have to remember he had a blood clot in April and hasn't played since then. It'll take a while for him to have impact, and he just arrived yesterday. Definitely won't play.
The hype is partially due to Niklas Landin(GK) and Simon Hald(pivot) joining too, but that's next season. They're getting a dream team for sure, but none of them are ready for the first matches of the season(and well, not until next year in these two lads cases). My point is.. Let's chill a bit, shall we? GOG won the finals against Aalborg last season with a nice comeback at the end of the second leg.
Onto GOG, the small town club(LITERALLY, the city has a population of 907 people while their arena has a capacity of 2265 spectators) lost their star in Mathias Gissel to Fuchse Berlin. They've pulled in some replacements but he was literally a one man army that no team in the league could contain.
GOG has had a good off-season. Aalborg, not so much. They looked a bit lost against Skjern and they couldn't keep up the tempo and were forced to slow down and not counter-attack so much.
First match of the season, lacking match fitness. Both teams without their big offensive stars and lots of new players. I suspect a match where both goalkeepers will have a good time and pick off shots left and right because the synergy just won't be there for either side.
