[Tennis- US Open] 27.8/ 20:30 J-F.Struff- L.Djere
Today, I’m going with Jan-Lennard Struff to beat Laslo Djere in straight sets. Struff has enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career, and while his best results have been on the clay, his strong serve and consistent baseline game translate well to all surfaces. In his most recent tournament, the Cincinnati Open, he drew Stefanos Tsitsipas, who, despite some inconsistency, has once again put together a solid season, and took the first set, although he eventually tired a bit and lost the match. Meanwhile, Djere did not play in Cincinnati, but his last recent match in Winston-Salem was a 6-4, 6-1 loss to Zachary Svajda, which is much more concerning than a three-set loss to Tsitsipas. While the loss was somewhat surprising, it was also somewhat reflective of his disappointing overall season, in which he has won just 5 main-draw ATP matches. Although Struff gave his opponent a walkover in the second round of the Olympics because of some injury issues, I think his match against Tsitsipas showed that he is pretty much fully fit now. Djere can pull out some nice shots from the baseline, which he showed last year at the US Open when he made it to the third round and won the first two sets against Novak Djokovic before…well, Djokovic started playing like Djokovic, he hasn’t shown that level in quite a while. I think Struff should serve well and be more consistent from the baseline throughout this match, so I like his at plus money to cover this set spread.
