[Football- England 'League Two'] 18.11/ 21:00 Stockport Count- Colchester

Stockport currently sit top of the table in League Two with a 12-2-3 record. That’s good, but what’s even better is that Stockport have won 11 consecutive league matches, and have a chance to tie the all time League Two record for most consecutive wins. They have scored 37 goals (best in the league) and only conceded 18 (3rd best). Stockport missed out on promotion last season via penalty shootout and look determined to ensure promotion by winning the whole thing this time around.

Stockport did suffer a loss mid week in a cup game (their first in 15 games) but I don’t see that being a factor here. Stockport played Bolton who are 3rd in League One, and they had already guaranteed their place in the next round so they changed their entire starting XI from their last league game. This means we should expect to see them play their best players who are fully rested from their last game.

Their opponents are Colchester who sit 16th with a 6-2-9 record. They have been able to find the net scoring 26 goals (9th best) but have the 3rd worst defence, conceding 31. Colchester have actually shown some good form lately - they fired their coach last month and have gone 3-1-0 since then, but they haven’t played any teams close to Stockport in terms of ladder position during that run. Their most recent outing was a 1-1 draw against the bottom team. Colchester didn’t play mid week so both teams are effectively playing off the same rest period, but important to note, Colchester will be missing their leading scorer this week due to international duty, so they might find scoring difficult against Stockport’s defence.

I’m taking a well rested Stockport team with a full complement of players to come out firing at home in search of history, and like them to cover the -1.5 handicap.
