Add to that the fact that there is no good reason to play Cirstea right now, other than the fact that Cirstea is a better player and much more experienced than Birrell. I will still make a quick analysis of the 2 players.
Cirstea didn't play the last 4 months of last year due to an injury, she has played 10 games this year for only 4 wins. The good thing is that i don't see any counter performance in her defeats (maybe Teichmann). In her last tournament, i could see some encouraging signs that she was getting back to her level.
Birell is coming out of the qualifiers, she won her 2 rounds against Burrage and Hibino respectively, nothing impressive. Birrell has played a lot this year with already 22 matches for 16 wins ! With some nice wins over Gracheva and Peterson among others. She won a W60 in February, one of the best ITF tournament.
Yes, Birrell can be dangerous, there is no doubt about it, especially if you compare her form. But as i said it's a special bet today, it's purely instinctual and this line really calls to me. Note that if this line wasn't nagging me i would have put it aside as too dangerous. If this bet ends in a win i'll do it again from time to time, otherwise i'll stick with the new strategy.
