Nice are sitting in 7th in Ligue 1 with an 11-8-6 record, and have been one of the form teams in the French league over the last 2 months. They sacked their coach after losing a cup match against a side from the 3rd division, and since the new manager has come in, they’ve gone 6-2-0 with a 17:2 goal ratio. They have had some really quality wins in that run too - they’ve beaten 4 teams inside the top 6, including a 3-1 win away to Marseille (2nd) and a 3-0 win away to Monaco (3rd) in their most recent match.
They now get a home game against Auxerre who are sitting in 16th with a 5-6-14 record. They sit outside the relegation zone on goal difference only. Auxerre have actually found a bit of form recently - they’ve gone WWDD in their last 4 games (from memory they ruined a few POTD’s by beating Lorient last time out). But at the end of the day, they are still an ordinary team with a 22:48 goal ratio, which makes them 3rd worst both offensively and defensively. They also have a 2-2-9 record away from home, and Nice has a strong home record with their last league loss at home coming back in October against PSG.
Nice do have a few injuries in the squad but they have been out for a while and the team has been on a good run without them, so nothing too concerning. I really struggled between choosing this bet, Nice win + over 1.5 goals or Nice to win to nil…I think all of them are viable options and protect against different outcomes in their own way. Ultimately I think Nice will score a few and likely hold Auxerre goalless, but at least we get a push in case of a 1-0 or 2-1 win.
