[Tennis- ATP Washington ] 20.8/ 2:30 E.Ymer- U.Humbert
The 77. Player in the world taking on a French choke artist Ugo Humbert. France may be good at all sports but the tennis duo Humbert/Paire really brings them down. But I digress, Humbert is 10-7 on hard this year but has 1 win against a top 100 player and that was against no less than the world #1 Medvedev at the start of the year on the 2nd of January. After that he lost to Berrettini and ADM in that same tournament and went on to be Humbert losing like 4 tournaments in the 1. Round.
He gets his 10 wins on hard from his last 3 challenger tournaments where he plays players who are not on his level and I think if he played Broady in the last round instead of Ymer he would have lost.
His strength is his strong serve and on his day he can hit a lot of winners.
On the other side we have the grinder Ymer who is coming of an amazing tournament in Washington beating Murray, Ruusuvuori, Karatsev and Korda but lost to Kyrgios who was in incredible form. If someone followed him through the tournament his agillity and speed is really impressive and he breaks his opponent with hitting some amazing shots which will be important here as Humbert is very weak in the head so 1-2 crazy moves from Ymer on important points should be enough to break his spirit.
Also the court in Vancouver isn't too fast for a hard court which is going in Ymer's favour which showed in his match against Broady. He is able to return better because his serve has never been his strongest weapon and extend rallies as he has great stamina and hits a small amount of unforced errors.
The H2H is at 1-0 for Ymer but it was a long time ago at a next gen tournament so it doesn't have a lot of meaning.
