[Football- Champions League] 1.12/ 18:55 Lokomotiv Moscow- Red Bull Salzburg
Simple one in the last pick, Torino proved themselves as defensively inept and offensively impressive as I had assumed. Both teams took full advantage, and knocked a few goals in each net to bring home the W. Game ends 2-2.
The situation in Group A of the Champions League is very interesting. Lokomotiv Moscow is still in contention for the second place in the group, whilst Salzburg is largely targeting a third place finish and subsequent Europa League football at this point, although a second place finish is also not completely out of reach.
Salzburg are already known for an incredibly high paced attacking style, and I wouldn’t expect anything less in this game against Lokomotiv Moscow. Salzburg are also coming into this match without any injuries, and are expected to see the return of one of their strikers Patson Daka, which should give them an added boost in striking-depth.
Lokomotiv Moscow will also be fielding an almost completely healthy starting lineup, and they will also benefit from (some) fans being let into the stadium, so a slight home advantage should also be considered. And although Lokomotiv aren't the most offensive side in the world, they will be forced to deal with the fast pace and aggression of Salzburg, which should provide for plenty of opportunities for both sides.
The previous matchup between the two finished 2-2, and based on the stakes within the group as well as the overall playing style of Salzburg, I’m expecting a decent amount of goals in this one. A high-stakes matchup with an attacking side like Salzburg is sure to provide us with some entertaining football, and hopefully a lot of goals as a result.
