Itauma is an 18 year old British heavyweight prospect who was undefeated as an amateur and could just be the next best thing in British boxing and possibly the heavyweight scene. He’s 2-0 as a pro but those two fights were basically nothing fights as both fighters he faced dived after getting clipped by the first punch landed. However my confidence in this pick comes from how great an amateur fighter he was. He stopped a number of opponents, either making them take knees or from referee stoppages. Itauma has very quick hands and will often loop a hook in rather than start of with a jab. To me he does look like he can become a superstar and Dovbyshchenko is a great third opponent for him and one I’m certain he’s gonna look emphatic against. Dovbyshchenko is a 9-12-1 journeyman who has taken some good names the distance, he’s never been stopped, however in his last few fights he’s been fighting 20 pounds heavier than his normal weight. He is a small heavyweight anyway so with that added weight he looks a lot more on the chubby side and to me he looks like he’s given up a little. Although he’s taken some quality opponents the distance he does get caught quite frequently and I don’t think Itauma is gonna have any problem landing on him. I think a lot of the reasons why he hasn’t been stopped yet is because if you watch his fights against the likes of Larduet, although Larduet could basically hit him when he pleased, he treated him more like a sparring partner and didn’t look to get him out of there. Itauma is young and hungry and will be throwing power punches from very early on.
