[Football- England 'Championship'] 31.3/ 21:00 Burnley- Sunderland
Burnley went into the international break on an unfortunate note as they were beaten 6-0 by Manchester City in the FA Cup. While it was a disappointing result, their exit from the FA Cup means they can now focus on consolidating their lead at the top of the Championship table. Vincent Kompany’s team are 13 points clear of second place Sheffield United and they are unbeaten in their last 17 league games. They also have an impressive record of 14 wins and 5 draws in their 19 league games at Turf Moor, making them the only side unbeaten at home in the Championship this season.
Sunderland won promotion from League One last season and started strong in the Championship. They were close to the playoffs for most of this season, but in recent games, they have began to drop in the table losing 4 of their last 6 games. They have still overall been solid especially away from home losing only 2 of their last 11 outings, however today they face the challenge of taking on a strong Burnley side. Sunderland do have a good attack, but it was clear how vulnerable their defence can be against top teams when they lost 2-1 against Sheffield United at home earlier this month.
Sunderland have scored a goal in all of their last 23 games and in 17 of these games they also conceded a goal resulting in both teams scoring. Burnley have averaged 2 goals per game this season and the last meeting in October ended 4-2 to Burnley.
