[Football- Europa League] 23.2/ 21:00 Manchester United- FC Barcelona
Manchester United is currently ranked 3rd in the Premier League and is in decent form (3W2D in the last 5 games across all competitions). Having just drawn Barcelona in the previous week, Manchester United will look to finish things at home. Playing Leicester this past weekend, the side looked confident with Leicester only really looking threatening for the first 20 minutes before United wrapped things up. Due to this, United were able to sub some key players off early (Rashford) and will look to get previously injured players back into the squad. Casemiro is also available for United, allowing some further strength in the midfield. With Manchester United only losing two of their last 11 games in the Europa League (W6D3), I expect them to put up a strong display on the day. Both teams have also scored in 4 of Manchester United's last 6 home games and with Rashford scoring a goal every 76 minutes in the Europa League, expect to see some goals on the day.
Barcelona is currently ranked 1st in La Liga and is in excellent form (4W1D in the last 5 games across all competitions ). Winning 2-0 against Cadiz this past weekend, Barcelona will be looking to continue their winning form after drawing at home to Manchester United in the previous week. Unfortunately for Barcelona, they will be missing both Gavi and Pedri to suspension and injury respectively. With Dembele also out, this side could look relatively weakened. However, you can never truly count Barcelona out and with Lewandowski at the front, I expect him to punish any mistakes that Leicester weren't able to take advantage of.
Given the stats, I see this game involving goals for both sides. Last time they faced, BTTS and over 2.5 goals hit and I expect this trend to continue. BTTS has landed in four of the last six games at Old Trafford and with Manchester United averaging 2.4 goals at home and Barcelona averaging 2.4 goals away (in the Europa League that is), this game could be another one with at least a few goals. Barcelona won't go down easily and given the scoring form of both of these teams, expect at least a few goals. With second legs of the CL typically involving more goals than the first, this could be a goal fest if we're lucky! In short, it happened last week. Why can't it happen again?
