In the 18th round of the French Ligue 2, Caen will host Bordeaux. The guests who fell from the top flight last season have a goal to return to it this season and so far they are doing well, as they are the vice-leader of the competition. However, they feel the breath of rivals on their backs, especially the third in the table Sochaux, over whom they have only 1 point advantage. The hosts, on the other hand, are ranked 7th after 17 matches with 24 points. I don't think Caen will be able to beat Bordeaux, who are strong for this league this season, and can only try to get a draw.
Caen has been doing mediocre lately. Their last league victory came on October 22, when they beat Rodez 2-0 at home. Then came the Coupe de France match, where they eliminated fourth-league side Saint-Malo, but only after penalties. They then had two league draws - 1-1 with Valenciennes and 0-0 with Annecy. Then, in the Coupe de France, fate crossed them with the fifth-league Virois, and although Caen won 3:0 on the pitch, in this match they put a player who was suspended and was forfeited. Their next game was an away 1-0 defeat to Bastia and in the last round they drew 1-1 with Saint Ettiene.
Caen have also failed to beat Bordeaux in the last three meetings between these sides. I don't think they can do that now. If they can't beat teams that are theoretically weaker than Bordeaux, it will also be difficult for them in the crossing with the Girondists.
