[Football- Spain 'La Liga'] 6.1/ 18:30 Elche- Celta Vigo
Both teams lost in the Copa three days ago, but they weren't playing full strength line-ups; they were saving their best players for today.
This is a big bottom of the table clash - Elche haven't won a league game all season, and are dead last with 4 points. They really don't belong in LaLiga this season, and they're pretty much relegated already. They don't score much, they concede in every game, and their home record is equally as poor as their away form. The only positive I can say is that they don't get smashed; they lose most games by only 1 or 2 goals. That tends to be the case for most LaLiga teams/matches though.
Celta Vigo are also battling relegation, but they play a lot better than Elche. They move the ball around better, they're more lively in attack, and overall, even though they have lost/drawn many games, they are very competitive, which can't really be said for Elche. They have also perhaps had slightly worse luck than they deserve; they've lost games where they created more big chances, and just last week for example, they drew against Sevilla despite playing very well and dominating the first half. This is reflected in their overall xG conceded: they've conceded 27 goals with an xG of 17.
Now, this game could easily end in a 1-1 draw, but I'm hoping Celta can manage to get a crucial win here. Their variance has to balance out at some point, and what better time than against the worst team in the league? Celta will have most of the possession and they will be probing for openings and goals much more than Elche will. At 2.14, I'm happy to take a stab at Celta ML.
