[Football- Denmark '1st Division'] 13.8/ 15:00 Nykøbing-Vendsyssel
I get why the bookies have this match at 50/50 or even Vendsyssel at slight favourites, but I disagree. Nykøbing are sitting at the bottom of the table, sure, but they've lost to Hvidovre(very good underrated offensive team), Vejle(superliga budget squad) and a draw 2-2 against Fredericia in the opener where they had a nice comeback to get the draw. Their squad is young and it's showing, but they're slowly getting more cohesive.
Vendsyssel is a bit of a weird team. They have former Superliga top-scorer Ronnie Schwartz, and they have Abou Ali who has several Superliga clubs on his resume, but he suffered cardiac arrest last season and to no wonder it's has affected his ability to perform, both physically and mentally. They beat Hillerød(worst team in the league), snatched a nice W against Køge but lost against Fremad Amager. They have the players, but less so the tactics if you ask me. They're a bunch of individuals.
It's a long way from Vendsyssel to Nykøbing(well, in Danish terms) as it's a 5 hour drive, probably closer to 6 in a bus. That's about as far away as it gets in Denmark. It's super hot today and will be around 30C. It'll take its toll on players, especially those who are not at 100% fitness. I expect a slow match where Nykøbing has more of a plan to get physical and down and dirty, whereas I expect Vendsyssel to shuffle through their subs early in the second half, as they have previously. They lack match fitness and I think it'll show in the heat.
