[Tennis- ATP Cincinnati ] 16.8/ 20:30 P.Carreno-Busta - M.Kecmanovic
Hope everyone had a fire weekend. Let’s make it a fire Monday. Pablo Carreno Busta is playing out of his god damn mind right now and while he’s playing like this, I feel like I have to continue riding him. He has just won ATP Montreal, in dominating fashion, while having the hardest path to get there, in my opinion. He 2-0’d Berretini, Rune, SINNER, and Draper, then defeated the best form of Dan Evans I have seen in a long time and the immensely talented Hubert Hurkacz. His run right now is actually insane, so to get him at -130 against a struggling Kecmanovic seems like a straight up blessing. Busta also made it to the QF of Cincy last year before losing to Medvedev, so he is clearly comfortable and dangerous on these courts.
Kecmanovic is no easy feat on hard courts, but he was just defeated in the first round at Montreal against Botic, and while he did make it to the semis in Cabo, all he had to do was defeat Thompson and Nakashima to get there, which is not that impressive to me. Neither of them are on the same galaxy as Busta in terms of talent.
There is really not much more to say. One argument to be made is that he could be tired after one day’s rest from Montreal, but man, given his form and the way he’s playing, I don’t think he needs rest - he’s a fucking man on a mission right now, playing beautiful and dominant tennis, on the verge of making his first top 10 ranking since 2017.
