With the seasons coming to a close, there are just a few finals left. One of them is the French PRO A Final, between LDLC Asvel and Monaco.
This matchup has had it all, blowouts, tight games and some showcase performances from individuals. LDLC Asvel dropped the first game, before storming to win the second game. AS Monaco on the other hand, won their first game, even if it was tight within the last few minutes, and then proceeded to lose game 4.. by 17 points. Now tied 2-2, AS Monaco pay a visit to LDLC Asvel's home arena for game 5.
Looking back at this series, Mike James has been the X-Factor for Monaco. He went a shocking 0/7 in Game 4, before two garbage time 3's put his record to 2/8 Yes, he did break 30 points, but his efficiency was none existent, and his forceful nature allowed LDLC to capitalise on his errors and turnovers.
LDLC is missing two players out of their team, but they've shown themselves to have composed and planned around it. Their losses in this series have been close, Game 1 was a highly effective shooting performance from Monaco, and their other loss, they went 0/14 from 3's before finally managing to score. Even still, they only lost by 3, showcasing the talent and depth of the roster on the interior even if their exterior shots are not falling.
Stats wise, LDLC Asvel has only lost twice at home this season, going 15-2, with Monaco going 10-7 away from home. In their games this series, Monaco has never had such a blowout effort as ASVEL had done, and on top of that, ASVEL's losses have been close. Mike James has been the key factor in both of Monaco's wins, and it will be him who will decide which Monaco turns up today.
I'm more confident in trusting a team vs one player, and if he has a KD level of shooting tomorrow, then that's a loss that I can take.
