[Football- Africa Cup Of Nations Qualifications] 1.6/ 18:00 Angola - Central African Republic

The first round of qualifying for the African Cup of Nations 2023. Two national teams, which in theory do not differ in level, are facing that much. However, in practice, it seems to me that the game will be dominated by the hosts.

Football in Angola is growing. Both on the club and representative level. A few weeks ago, a club from that country reached the semi-finals of the African Champions League, which is quite an achievement! Last year, however, "transfers" were made in the national team. Several European footballers, having a past in Portugal and France's youth teams, were granted Angolan citizenship. It was for example Helder Costa (formerly Leeds, now Valencia), M'bala Nzola (Spezia) or Jeremie Bela (Birmingham). These transfers were of course made with the current qualifying rounds in mind, not the previous ones. Then Angola had little chance of winning anything.

Since then, Angola have beaten Gabon twice at home, once Guinea-Bissau and drawn against Egypt. As you can see, something has moved there a bit. It seems to me that the Central African Republic is the weakest of these teams, so today's hosts should be able to beat the lower-ranked guests.
