[Tennis- Olympic Games] 29.7/ 19:00 D.Schuurs/W.Koolhof- M.Sakkari/S.Tsitsipas
Both these couples last played with their current partners at the United Cup in January. At this tournament, Dutch doubles specialists Demi Schuurs and Wesley Koolhof won both their matches against couples from Norway and Croatia. Greek singles stars Maria Sakkari and Stefanos Tsitsipas had a less eventful cup with two losses against German an Chilean opposition.
For Sakkari and Tsitsipas it will be the second time playing mixed doubles together at the Olympics, having reached the quarterfinals in Tokyo in 2021. However, their participation this year was only confirmed shortly before the tournament, as Tsitsipas had stated to focus mainly on the singles and doubles with his brother Petros. Sakkari will be active in the women's singles tournament, for which she qualified as #8 of the world.
Both Schuurs and Koolhof will be playing their second Olympics, as they played in the women's and men's doubles tournaments respectively in Tokyo. This will be the first time they play together at the Olympic tournament.
On the other hand, with different partners they have won multiple (mixed) doubles titles and played several Grand Slams, with a Roland Garros semifinal for Schuurs (2021) and Roland Garros title for Koolhof (2022) as highlights.
Taking previous achievements and the Greek focus on other tournaments into account, I'm giving the edge to Dutch experience over Greek sheer talent.
