Nava is in strong form this week, recording straight sets win over 3 very capable opponents in Hassan, Kopriva, and Hanfmann. In his first round, he easily beat the 6th seed Hanfmann, recording a bagel in the 2nd set. Nava has been playing well throughout this month, qualifying for main draws in Dallas and Los Cabos, both main tour events. Halys narrowly won his first round match vs Wolf, even while serving 26 aces. He hasn't been in great form in the last month and he struggled with results in the indoor hard court swing, where he usually plays his best. He lost to another young American in Quinn in the first round of Indian Wells qualifying before this tournament. Halys' game in these outdoor conditions isn't at its best at the moment and Nava, who has been playing in similar conditions for the last month, will look to continue his strong run this week.
