[Boxing- UK] 2.12/ 23:00 M.Conlan- J.Gill

This is a fight between two battle-worn fighters. One of these fighters however has taken a lot more punishment than the other. And that man is Jordan Gill. Not only has he fought at a lower level, Gill has been stopped twice badly and was also involved in a war last year with Karin Guerfi. Guerfi had him hurt multiple times and had Gill down at one stage and looked like he was onto a tko win until Gill pulled out a ko of the year contender. This may sound like a bit of a turn off in terms of this bet for Conlan however, the Irishman has also fought Guerfi but he stopped him in the first round, the polar opposite to Gills fight. Conlan has been on the end of two demoralising ko defeats at world level in the past year and a half. But he also has 2 wins over Guerfi and Marriaga in between those defeats.

I feel Conlan just has a lot more left in the tank than Gill. Gill has parted ways with long time trainer Dave Coldwell for this fight and has gone to train with his dad which suggests that he’s not all that concerned about getting the best preparation for this fight. It also makes me question how much desire he even has for winning at this point. The fight is in Belfast, Conlans hometown so everything will be in his favour. Although you could say both of their chins are shot to pieces, I really do think that Gill’s is a lot worse. His 4th round defeat to Martinez was awful and he didn’t seem to be able to take any power shot at all. Conlan doesn’t have the greatest of power but he does throw very good body shots and puts everything into every punch.

I think Conlan overall is just the better operator and the way more talented fighter. I think he’s still got something left for the sport unlike Gill. I think you’ll see instantly Conlan put it on Gill and he’ll stop him early to mid rounds.
