[Football- England 'EFL Cup'] 13.8/ 20:45 Bristol- Coventry
Coventry
I wrote a lot about Coventry in the previous analysis of the match with Oxford. It worked a lot. Mega strong attack, which partially fired. Two goals by Wright, who saved 3 points for Coventry in the 96th minute. I watched the whole match and Coventry could and should have finished much earlier. 12 accurate shots, a great match by the visiting goalkeeper Cumming.
Still reserves in the attack - Despite 3 goals and Wright's double, more is still expected. Simms is waiting for his first goal in the league (he scored in the League Cup against Bristol), Sakamoto is making a lot of noise, but he is not giving numbers yet. Thomas-Asante, Mason-Clark and Palmer are on the bench and have to prove their worth every time they come on, because each of them has ambitions to play. So far, they are not contributing much.
Milan van Ewijk - The Dutch full-back is in great form. A goal, an assist and he looks like he is going to have a great season. He had a very good previous season and I am sure that someone better will get him out soon.
Unsure (?) defense - Two goals conceded against Oxford, a goal conceded against Stoke, where the opponents had 3 and 4 shots on goal respectively. Defense is still a big unknown, because they do not allow many situations, but they do happen every match.
Bristol
Briston is after a crazy match with Millwall, where they won 2:0, lost 2:3 in 13 minutes, and finally secured 3 points in the 78th and 88th minutes. They look like a team that will be around the middle of the table, but will provide precisely such matches.
Midfield - What I like the most there is a very dynamic, running, but also creative midfield with wings. Bird is in great form, Mehmeti scored against Millwall, Sykes hasn't impressed yet, but Twine has already given an impulse from the bench and scored a goal.
Competition in attack - Armstrong scored his first goal for Bristol in the previous match, but he can't be calm about his place, because another new signing Mayulu, who comes on, scores a goal. In the long run, I feel that the latter will win the competition.
Head-to-head - Both teams met recently in the League Cup and Coventry won away 1-0, but I wouldn't attach much importance to that. Different competitions, although Bristol had plenty of chances there to score and also cover btts.
