[Football- Euro 2024] 2.7/ 21:00 Austria- Turkey
Turkey will be without star players Hakan Calhanoglu and center-back Samet Akaydin due to suspension. However, Abdulkerim Bardakci and First-choice goalkeeper Mert Gunok are back available.
Austria are only missing Winger Patrick Wimmer.
Rangnick’s side are a brilliant pressing unit. Only Germany (8.8) had a lower PPDA in the group stages than Austria (9.0). Turkey love to get on the front foot, too. Indeed, only Portugal (5.8) and Spain (5.4) had a higher expected goals (xG) total than Turkey (5.2) in the groups, while Vincenzo Montella’s team were also third for high turnovers (28), behind Croatia (34) and Portugal (30).
Austria beat Türkiye 6-1 in a March friendly but haven’t beaten the Turks for 35 years in a competitive game.
“We know the Turkish squad is very strong. None of us will believe as we won this friendly in the past, that we are in the advantage. We will focus on our way of play. Turkey is a team who will include emotion and we will need to show heart and be strong” Said manager Ralf Rangnick.
Austria will press hard and fast while Turkey are full of outstanding and exciting individual players in attack that are allowed to express themselves. To the backdrop of this there are two defences that are liable to make mistakes. We expect an open game with goals from both sides.
