[Football- Euro 2024] 23.6/ 21:00 Scotland- Hungary
Thought Turkey had much more to offer than the poor display we saw, a few half chances but not enough to get a goal.
Last group stage game in this group
Hungary is on 0 points and 1-5 in goal difference. Scotland are on 1 point and 2-6 on goal difference.
Both teams therefore need to focus on taking third place in order to advance to the playoffs. A game both teams need to win. Preferably with as many goals as possible for the goal difference. I think the mindset for both teams is just go all in to get a win and hope it's enough all the way to the next stage. Also as it is the first group to finish the group stage, they will not have other results to play on.
Scotland started their journey with a big defeat to Germany. They bounced back against Switzerland and drew 1-1, I haven’t been impressed by Scotland especially defensively. I have a hard time seeing this team keeping a clean sheet against any team of decent quality. Offensively Scotland are going with their direct play, long balls and 50/50 duel play, can also cause problems on their set pieces as it’s quite a heavy team.
Hungary lost to Switzerland in the premiere with 3-1. Stood up pretty well against Germany and with a bit of luck could have taken something from there I think. I think they have a perfectly good offense and should be able to hurt Scotland.
Even without the current circumstances I think there would have been a good chance for a game with goals if they played each other earlier. But now it's a match that means one of the teams will always have to go all in to find a goal or turn the game around to clinch 3rd place in the Group.
