Semi-final qualifying for the main tournament between Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi and Slovakian Josef Kovalik. In the first round, Bonzi defeated the Bolivian Dellien, while Kovalik easily won against the French veteran Paire. The winner of this pair will play in the qualifying final with the winner of the Burruchaga-Uchiyama match. Both men met in the Challenger semi-final in Split in April, and the Slovak won quite easily 6:4 6:3. Bonzi is performing quite poorly this season, resulting in a drop from the top hundred to 172nd place in the ATP ranking. Kovalik won this year's Challengers in Split and Zadar on clay courts and should confirm his good condition in today's match.
