Switzerland dropped and dragged their balls all over that over and the books that fucked everybody over yesterday. The over hit with 8 minutes left in the 2nd and if you got in a 6.5 you didn’t need to wait much longer for that one either.

Unfortunately for them, we’re going with the Czechs to cover the spread tomorrow morning. There’s really not much to this play so I’ll try to keep it short. Czechia needs a win to solidfy themselves as the 3rd seed while the Swiss can leapfrog them with one. With a day off on New Years, you can reasonably assume both starting goalies will play, and I much prefer Hrabal over Beglieri.

I’ve brought up Game Score a few times so far and while it isn’t a make or break stat, by now it’s compiled enough data to paint a picture of the better team. Czechia thus far has a team Game Score of 0.97 while the Swiss are at a 0.89 - so there's a gap. Goaltending-wise, Hrabal is rocking a -1.36 GSAX while Beglieri is at a 0.94. It’s a difference until you see the shots given up at 5v5 for both teams. Beglieri has faced 27 while Hrabal is at 48.

Another thing to note is back-to-back games have seemed to play a huge factor this year which has been an outlier. The Czechs have that day of rest while the Swiss just staved off relegation against Norway this morning. We could even get lucky and see the Swiss start one of Huet or Gruter tomorrow. One last tidbit is that these two teams met in the quarterfinals last year, with the Czechs dominating Switzerland en route to a 9-1 win. I can’t see them repeating that, but Czechia seems poised to break away at some point to hold on to their 3rd spot in the group.
