[Basketball- Euroleague] 12.11/ 18:00 Maccabi Tel Aviv-Zalgiris Kaunas
Maccabi Tel Aviv is a team with great history in Euroleague and most of the times they've tried to build a squad to compete and try to win the competition, this season it's the same( they brought in former NBA players like Ante Zizic and Dragan Bender and kept most of the core players from the last season ) but they didn't meet the expectations so far, still in the last round they had a really good game against Efes but in the end they ended up with a L which led them to really poor 2-5 record after 7 rounds.
On the other hand, Zalgiris, is performing way above everyone's expectations, even mines, some websites before the Euroleague start of the season seen them among the last teams, probably ranking them as the 16th team out of 18, I was a bit aware about their capability and I was ranking them in my power ranking somewhere around 10-14 but they are way above that, even being leaders of the Euroleague after 6 games when they had a 5-1 record and I was wondering... when they'll start to fall?
Well it seems like they've started to fall in the 7th round, despite having a great 2nd quarter against Real Madrid and even leading by 10+ points in the 3rd quarter they gave the win away in the last quarter when they played pretty poor...and I think this can continue today as well..
Maccabi used to be a great team playing at home, in the last season with pretty much the same core of players they managed to get to an impressive 12-1 record at home, yea ofc, there are no fans now which helped them a lot in the last season but still, their 2 loses so far this season at home must be really alarming and if they still want a playoffs spot this season they should try to get on a winning track and try to win most of their home games and it MUST START TODAY.
