[Football- England 'EFL Cup'] 26.9/ 20:45 Salford City- Burnley
Either way, Burnley sit bottom of the Premier League after a very poor start, but they play a team that are dead bottom of the fourth tier of English football in League Two. Burnley looked amazing last season in the Championship but just haven’t stepped up to the plate, looks like they are punching above their weight. They haven’t looked horrible though in their last two, they dominated possession against United and didn’t play all that bad against Nottingham in the game before. I bet on Nottingham in that match and honestly was sweating. The EFL cup is the exact kind of competition Burnley should be looking to go far in, so I expect Kompany to take this seriously. I would not be surprised to see a few starters playing.
The key thing here is that Salford City just suck. After beating Leeds in the same competition a while back, they have gone on to lose 5 straight game, and four against League Two opponents. They sit 21st with a -5 goal difference. It’s very possible that they will drop out of the first four football leagues after this season. My only bet against this team came when I bet on Bolton with this same line. Bolton are a League One team, and made easy work of them in the group stage of the EFL Trophy, dominating 3-0.
Even with heavy rotation, Burnley are a much better team and Salford will be not in a great place mentally heading into this matchup. I expect a proper domination from Burnley, 0-3 or 1-3 is my prediction. I’m still a bit torn on whether I want to take the -1.5 Handicap for 2.00 value which is really solid, but I’ll see closer to the match and perhaps update the post.
