The biggest game in The Netherlands is played today: Amsterdam vs. Rotterdam. Ajax vs. Feyenoord. Ajax has started the season in horrible fashion. They are currently ranked 12th and they do not look good, although they spent over 100 million on new players. This is also the weakness of this team and explains this horrible start: They have so many new players, who arrived only very late during the transferwindow that they still have to built the teamwork. Basically Ajax is still in pre-season. Also these players have all kinds of different nationalities which makes it harder to quickly create good team cohesion. Some positions are also not covered well. For example, the CDM position is still a problem for Ajax. They have been defensively very weak, which is caused by their CDM not being capable of keeping spaces closed between midfield and defense. Reading the latest news, the media expect 18-year old Vos to play there today. In my opinion Vos is not yet ready to play there as a starter, so I doubt he will solve the problem ajax has there in the biggest game of the year. Stengs will be playing at the AM position and if he gets space he can do great things. Against unexperienced Vos I think he will get that space. Ajax has many more problems, too many to list here, but this is really a key match up that will be in favor of Feyenoord.
Feyenoord on the other hand kinda continued where they left off last season: winning games in dominant fashion. Last Tuesday against Celtic they were not even good at all, but still win 2-0 in a Champions League match. They willl miss Ivanusec, but they have adequate replacements.
Another point in favor of Feyenoord is that they had extra rest: Feyenoord played on Tuesday (at home) while Ajax played on Thursday (at home).
