Arne Erlandsen last season led KuPS to 3rd place at the end of the season in the Finnish league (only a worse goal difference was between them and Inter Turku, which won the runner-up). Despite such good results, the 61-year-old did not get along with the club from Kuopio on a new contract. The Norwegian coach's veteran this season (from January this year) was replaced by former Tromso coach, Simo Valakari. The Finn in the "Land of a thousand lakes" with his new team has so far achieved such results (after 6 game rounds, 7th place in the table and 7 points on the account).
SJK is in 5th place in the ranking (8 points), but they have won only two of the first five matches (against the teams at the bottom of the table). The hosts this season without a home win (0-2-1). SJK was one of the weakest home teams in Veikkausliiga last season and it looks set to be the same.
KuPS has not lost even once in the last four away matches against SJK (three wins and a draw). It has not lost at the OmaSP stadium since July 2017. Moreover, KuPS have only lost one of the last eleven games to SJK and I don't think it will be any different today.
