[Football- England 'National League Playoffs'] 5.6/ 17:00 Notts County- Chesterfield
Play-offs for promotion to League Two in the English National league.
Notts County was relegated from League Two after the 2018-2019 season. For the first time in 157 years of history, the Nottingham club has landed outside the top four leagues in England. And it is worth knowing that the team from the region
East Midlands is considered the oldest professional football club in England. Today, Chesterfield will come to Meadow Lane to play the quarter-finals. Play-off quarter-final game for promotion to league Two. The popular Magpies scored just one point more than Chesterfield and were two places higher at the end of the season. Ian Burchnall's men are now only (and as many as) three victories away from returning to professional football in England. They failed to qualify last season (a 3-3 defeat against Harrogate in the play-off final at Wembley) and many "The Mag, the dog" fans are counting on a promotion in this. But it will not be an easy task at all. Both Notts County and Chesterfield showed great form ahead of the play-offs (Burchnall's side lost only one of their last eight games, while Chesterfield was unbeaten in their last five league games). Each team won an away game last league season (Notts County won 3-2 at Technique Stadium in November, Chesterfield defeated Magpies 1-0 at Meadow Lane in February).
Notts County has been training penalties this week, but Burchnall insists the goal is to settle the game in regular time.
It promises to be a very balanced match. Chesterfield has played well away from home this season (36 of 69 points), while Notts County has always been strong at home. In addition, now the audience can return to the stands, and this will also give the hosts energy.
The team that wins this competition will face Torquay in the semi-final. And I believe it will be a team
Ian Burchnall.
