[Football- Netherlands 'Eredivisie'] 4.4/ 14:30 PSV Eindhoven- Heracles Almelo
Looking at PSV's recent results one could conclude they are not in great form. Indeed based on their last 6 games they would be only ranked 8th in the league, but their results should be placed in context. In their last 6 games they playes against Vitesse, Ajax, Feyenoord and AZ: togeher with PSV these are the strongest teams in the league. Against Vitesse they won, they drawed against Ajax and Feyenoord and lost against AZ. Placing those results even further in context, drawing against ajax is not bad. The draw and loss against Feyenoord and AZ were unnecessary. The draw against ADO Den Haag was really bad, but it is a wonder PSV did not score already 5 times in the first half (they even missed a penalty kick).
Against Feyenoord PSV had twice as many shots on target than Feyenoord, but were very inefficient in converting. Especially Malen could have easily scored 3 goals himself, but the Feyenoord goalie had a brilliant day and was victorious in several 1 on 1 situations with Malen. PSV also dominated in all other stats in this game.
Against AZ there is a similar story: although the stats are in more proximity between the two teams, PSV dominated in most stats, but were again inefficient in converting chances into goals.
So the story seems to be that PSV is having troubles converting chances into goals. Luckily two important players in this regard have returned from injury: Gakpo and Madueke. They are players who are very important in attack for PSV and have proven to be very able to score.
In terms of motivation every match right now is important for PSV since they are tied in points with AZ (who won yesterday) for 2nd place in the league. This second place means a team qualifies for the Champions League qualification which is very important because of the prize money that can be earned in the CL.
Heracles are in so, so form (ranked 12th in the league based on the last 6 games). There away record is mediocre: 4 wins 3 draws 6 losses.
PSV dominates the H2H between these teams. They have won 5 of their last 6 encounters (1 draw) and have won 14 of the last 15 home games against Heracles. They have scored at least 2 goals in 13 of their last 14 home games against Heracles.
Overall PSV is really stong at home. They are unbeaten in 18 of their last 19 home matches.
