[Football- Norway 'Eliteserien'] 13.4/ 18:00 Fredrikstad- Sarpsborg 08
The competition between the neighboring cities of Fredrikstad and Sarpsborg is fierce. Today these two teams will meet in the Eliteserien for the first time since September 2011. FFK's game statistics against Sarpsborg at home in Fredrikstad are deplorable. Since 2009, the rivals have met in this city nine times and Fredrikstad won only once (a friendly match), recording five defeats and three draws during that time. After a home defeat at the opening of the season against Bodo/Glimt 0-2, FFK went to Bergen and defeated Brann 2-0. Pride Bergen was the clear favorite in the match against Fredrikstad. Almost the entire match was dictated by the hosts, but in football you don't award marks for style. What counts is what's on the net and all three points went unexpectedly to Ostfold. It was FFK's first victory after returning to the Eliteserien and first in Bergen since November 2012. It was a good week for 'Fryderyk', because after their victory in Bergen on Wednesday, they defeated Drobak/Frogn 10-0 in the Norwegian Cup. Defender Philip Aukland and Guinean striker Mai Traore returned to the matchday squad after injury, as did Danish center back Mads Nielsen. FFK coach Mikkkjal Thomassen therefore has almost the entire squad at his disposal (only the Faroe Islands striker, Joannes Bjartalid, who is recovering from injuries, will not play).
Sarpsborg is the only Eliteserien team that started the season with two 0-1 defeats (Viking Stavanger away and Odd home) and is placed at the very bottom of the Eliteserien table. Coach Stefan Billborn has a bit of a headache at the start of the season, because although his team is not playing badly, the results are not up to expectations. Central defender Magnar Odegaard is complaining about an injury and his play is in doubt.
Fredrikstad and Sarpsborg will meet for the first time in 13 years at the Fredrikstad Stadium in Eliteserien and it will be "hot" because the matches between these teams are described as one of the most exciting football derbies in Norway (the distance between the stadiums of both clubs is only 15 kilometers). The history of football matches between Sarpsborg and Fredrikstad is long, and the huge rivalry between both cities is more than just football (both clubs are eternal rivals). The home advantage may therefore be decisive here and Fredrikstad may finally win at home against Sarpsborg 08 again.
