[Basketball- FIBA World Cup] 6.9/ 14:30 Canada- Slovenia

Canada's road to the quarterfinals was not the easiest one. They faced some reputable basketball nations. They did well. They had an impressive start to the World Cup. Blowing out France by 30, Lebanon by 55 and Latvia by 26 points. They recovered well from the shocking loss to Brazil by eliminating the reigning Spanish champions from World Cup contention.

The Canadian team is stacked with NBA talents while Slovenia is largely about Luka. Canada has multiple skilled players for defending him. Canada's defense is clicking well all tournament. Holding their opponents on average to 73.8 points per game. In 4 out of 5 games, they allowed less than 76 points. On the other side of the floor, they scored on average 101.4 points.

Albeit having an easier road to the quarterfinals, Slovenia scored less and allowed more points on average than Canada. Scoring 88.4 points while allowing 81.8 points per game. Slovenia faced less competitive basketball nations like Venezuela, Georgia and Cap Verde. Slovenia still won against Australia but got blownout by Germany.

It is Shai versus Luka. Both are huge for their respective team. But Shai has the more skilled supporting cast in offense and defense regards. Having said that, Shai is on a tear. Putting up big numbers in this World Cup. Slovenia might not have the bodies to slow him down. There are a lot of potential mismatches for him. Making it difficult to stop him from putting on another clinic. Beyond that, two factors decreased Luka’s productivity bit by bit throughout the tournament. Firstly, some fatique kicking in due to his high usage rate and secondly, much stronger opponents. Shai's over on PRA and Luka's under on PRA has been on my mind. But I go with an alt point spread on team Canada to fight my demons. I am doing worst on odds between 1.60 - 1.69. 3 out of the 8 POTD losses fall into this odds range. I am confident that Shai and company can improve this special record of 2 wins, 3 losses and 1 push.
