[Football- England 'EFL Trophy'] 5.9/ 20:45 Bolton Wanderers- Salford City

Very easy hit last time out to keep a great streak going, Liverpool absolutely dominate from kick-off, Aston Villa never got into the game once and played a shockingly poor match. 3-0 to the Reds. We keep moving.

Bit of a lull in soccer right now so don’t expect me to be posting too much, I did find this pretty nice line though for today in this match up between Bolton and Salford City so I’m rolling with this one, tail if you want.

Bolton are the current title holders in this competition and will be looking to win it again this season. In their league, they sit in second in League One, the third tier of English football, coming off the back of a nice 2-1 comeback against Derby County. They have had a mixed start to the season but overall are a much stronger side than Salford.

They have won 4 out of the last 6 home games and have beaten Salford in all four of their last four meetings. Salford sit 17th in League Two and have conceded a goal in seven games straight, and have only won one of those. They did remarkably beat Leeds on penalties in the EFL cup, but I think their luck will run out here.

They have been very very poor in the regular season and are coming off of a 1-0 defeat to Morecambe where they put in a mediocre performance. I think the players will be a bit demoralized especially knowing their awful record against Bolton.

Dion Charles, Bolton’s top scorer will be unavailable to international duty, so this may be why the odds are 1.63 and not lower for Bolton. I’m not too worried about this as Victor Adeboyejo will likely start and he’s also scored 4 goals this season. Salford themselves will also be missing a key veteran defender due to international duty anyway, so both teams will rotate a bit.

In the end I trust Bolton at home here, of course in this tournament anything can happen and it’s always risky going with lower league picks, but this is my pick anyway, hopefully my luck continues.
